Why do I have to attend this class?

While we cannot speak for the court; generally we find the court feels if families are coming to the court to resolve a custody issue, they want you to have information on the affects of Divorce, Separation and high conflict situations on children.

I already took the Kids First Class; do I have to take it again?

Generally, it is not required for you to take the class a second time. We recommend you notify the Court and provide them with a copy of your certificate. You can obtain a duplicate copy of your certificate by contacting the Kids First Program via text at: 570-906-8517, Cost: $15.

What if I don't live in the area?

You can contact the court administrator in your home county to see if they have a comparable program. If you think they do, contact us so we can confirm it will satisfy the court requirement. You can also do a Home Study course which costs by contacting the Kids First Program via email: divorceandkids@aol.com

What if I cannot afford the class?

The Court may waive your fee based on your income. You will have to contact the Family Court Administrator to determine if you qualify.

I have a no contact Protection from Abuse (PFA) order; will my ex be in the class?

When you register, you can provide this information. We will make every attempt to schedule the parties in different classes. There are also Deputies at every class; however we cannot assure your safety. You should contact the Program via text 48 hours prior to your class to ensure there is no conflict. How will the Court know I attended?

In addition to the certificate that is provided to you, a certificate is sent to the Family Court Administrator.

What if I have Court before the next available class?

Your court proceeding will not be held up if you have not attended the class. Most counties however, require parents to register promptly after receiving the order and attend the next available class.

I lost my certificate, how can I get another one?

You can obtain a duplicate copy of your certificate by contacting the Kids First Program via text at: 570-906-8517, Cost: $15.

How do I pay for the class?

You can pay with credit or debit card online when you register. On the day of class, you can use cash, money order, and credit/debit card. If you would like to mail a check prior to class, you can mail it to Anthony J. Libassi, PO Box 492, Dalton, PA 18414-0492. Personal checks CANNOT be accepted the day of class.

Do I get a receipt?

You will receive a certificate upon completing the class which will serve as your receipt.

Should I bring my children?

No, this is a program for adults and child care is not provided.
